Biography
Ned Smyth is the son of Renaissance art historian, Craig Hugh Smyth. Smyth was raised in Italy. His public sculptures include: "The Dream of Simultaneous Connection" 1996, Long Beach, California; "World Park, Orders and Perspectives" 1995, Marriott Hotel, Philadelphia; "Earth Pursues the Future," 2001, Asbury Park, New Jersey. Ned Smyth, an experienced public art sculptor, has completed numerous site specific commissions all over the country and one in the Virgin Islands. A versatile artist, Smyth has also exhibited in galleries and museums in the United States and abroad. He received an N.E.A. award and was recognized by the New York City Art Commission for Excellence in Design in 1990 for his permanent artwork For Wave Wall in Green located at the Knapp Street Water Pollution Control Plant in Coney Island, Brooklyn.
