Biography
French painter and sculptor. He studied at the Académie de la Grande Chaumiére in Paris between 1914 and 1916 and at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Nantes between 1919 and 1922. Initially influenced by Matisse, Van Gogh and Cézanne, Gorin discovered Cubism in Paris in 1923. He continued moving towards abstraction, especially after discovering the neo-plasticism of Mondrian in 1926. In Lille, April 1928, he exhibited his work for the first time and, in 1932, helped to found the Abstraction-Création group together with Hélion, Herbin and others. He also took part in the Art Concret exhibition in Paris, 1945. From its creation in 1946 up until 1966, he regularly took part in the Salon des Réalités Nouvelles.
