Born in Saïda, Algeria, where he lived until 1962. Studied fine arts at Marseille. His first solo exhibition took place in 1982. Since the 80s, his work has been a combination of figuration, abstraction and conceptualism. He builds his work around two founder myths, two stories about seeing and death: Suzanne and the Elder and Diana's bath. His work brings together, African remembrances, art history and reflections about painting. For him, painting is a "catholique question", he paints ex-votos and crucifixions. He lives in the Le Havre, in Paris and in Naples.
