New Zealand photographer. He studied at the Ilam School of Art in Christchurch (1968-71) and the Royal College of Art in London (1972-75), the city he has since made his home. Despite his training having been in sculpture, Webb opted for photography as his profession. At the beginning of his career he was mainly interested in scenes of real life with unusual details and the strange superimposing of objects. Nonetheless, it was in the 80s that Webb developed a personal, clearly defined style, creating theatrical and artificial images based on constructed settings and actors.
