Biography
American artist, born in Berkeley, California. Between 1957 and 1965, he attended the California College of Arts and Crafts and taught, among others, at the Universities of California, Irvine and Los Angeles; at the School of Visual Arts and Hunter College, in New York and at the College of Creative Studies at the University of California. In 1965, he had his first one-man show at the Nicholas Wilder Gallery in Los Angeles. Since then, McCracken has regularly presented his works in various American and foreign cities, namely New York, Houston, Chicago, Toronto, Paris, Düsseldorf, London, Brussels, Milan and Zurich. Similarly, the presentation of his works in collective exhibitions began in 1965, and has periodically taken place in various cities, Geneva (1994), London (1998) and Vienna (1999), for example. In 1967, he participated in the Paris Biennale and, in 1986, at the Venice Biennale. He lives and works in Los Angeles.
